Vision
John Paul Moran’s vision for Massachusetts and America is based on the principles of Unity, Liberty and Opportunity for ALL. Upon entering office, John Paul is committed to achieving three bold and vital initiatives for the 6th District, Massachusetts and America.
1. Form the Defense of Small Business Council.
Throughout the tough economic shutdown that small to medium sized businesses had to endure, it’s become crystal clear that we have no one in Congress watching our backs outside of the Small Business Administration which is focused almost exclusively on SBA loans. That’s just not enough. While larger corporations have massive lobbyist dollars and tremendous influence in Congress, smaller businesses do not. It’s time to unite the millions of small to medium sized businesses, who employ nearly 50% of the country’s workforce, to bring influence on par with the largest of corporations. John Paul Moran will head up this effort in the House of Representatives to give these businesses a loud and clear voice and make sure they are protected.
2. Create the United States Opportunity Corps.
Think of the new US Opportunity Corps as a combination of a “Peace Corps for America” and a career development and apprenticeship program for our nation’s youth. 60 years after JFK’s US Peace Corps, let’s make JPM’s US Opportunity Corps a reality. This ambitious 2-year program is aimed at giving high school graduates a career path to the future and a chance to patriotically serve their country (outside of the US Military) through a range of civil service programs– and act an alternative to going right to college while racking up high college debt. It will also offer an outstanding opportunity for all young people to pursue careers that will give them an equal and fair shot at the American Dream. Funded primarily by private industry and local municipalities, it will consist of three paths to choose from:
a. Trade Apprenticeship Path: Similar to the vocational apprenticeship program in Germany, this path will offer opportunities to get experience in a variety of trades and businesses that will set them up with a career.
b. College Prep Path: Similar to the above but for college-bound students, this path will consistent of a dual education/apprenticeship (or intern) system with real world experience to guide their college aspirations.
c. Social Good Path: For those who want to pursue a great future serving their communities, society at large or protecting the environment, this path offers a mix of internships and paid work to lead to a future career.
3. Propose the “ Opportunity for All Act ”
For decades, those who have followed non-traditional lifestyles in America (i.e., LBGTQs) have struggled to gain the same rights and advantages of citizens who embrace traditional “straight” lifestyles. While the Civil Rights Act of 1964 protects the rights and prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex and national origin, right now there is no such federal protection for non-traditional lifestyles (NTLs). As a rare lifelong conservative, Catholic, and gay man, with a unique ability to reach a wide audience and find compromise, John Paul Moran will work to finally craft a bill to provide full protection and rights for our NTL citizens while protecting our essential Constitutional religious liberties and freedoms. As the old saying goes, “Only Nixon Can Go to China”, and “Only John Paul Moran Can Get LGBTQ Rights Done Right”.
The five-point star has had meanings going back thousands of years – a popular one is the human spirit at the top point with the elements of earth, wind, water and fire rounding out the other four.
The five-point star has had meanings going back thousands of years – a popular one is the human spirit at the top point with the elements of earth, wind, water and fire rounding out the other four.
The OPPORTUNITY STAR represents the Five Points of Opportunity, from top down clockwise, in the colors of red, white & blue.
Personal Opportunity. Representing life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness & our Constitutional freedoms, every other point depends on this most important truth. Without liberty, we have no freedom, no security, no prosperity. Like the symbol of the human spirit, it sits prominently at the top.
Economic Opportunity. Standing for free market economics, jobs, lower taxes, fair trade, lower regulations, and a pro-business government agenda. Socialism – dictator economics – killed over 100 million people last century and oppressed over a billion more, it does note & will never work!
Social Opportunity. This point represents equal Civil rights for people of all backgrounds, ages and lifestyles, affordable and quality health care, mental health support, better public transportation and infrastructure, and assistance for our veterans, the elderly, the disabled and those most in need.
Educational Opportunity. This stands for providing the best education for our children, school choice, more parent involvement in the classroom, free speech on campus, ending Common Core, addressing high tuition costs and fixing the massive student debt crisis.
National Opportunity. This point represents the securing of our nation’s safety through US Military strength and readiness, space exploration, supporting our local fire and police, securing our borders, stemming the illegal drug crisis, and essential environmental protections to protect our planet.
